How many times have you heard “sorry I haven’t gotten back to you” in both business and society? It can often feel like we’re being told, “sorry right now you are not my priority”.
This reality can sting, but it’s also a reminder that prioritising is a fact of life.
We’re never going to tick off every single item on our “to do list,” or reply to every message and attend every meeting or engagement, and that’s perfectly fine.
It’s important to remember that everyone’s circumstances are different, and what might be a priority for one person may not be for another.
We all have the same number of hours in a day, so it’s up to each individual to figure out how best to use them. While it might not feel good to be pushed down someone else’s list of priorities, consider adjusting your own priorities instead.
So next time you’re about to tell someone “I’m so busy”, perhaps pause, take a moment, and recognise that we’re all managing busy lives. It’s about effective time management and understanding what matters most to us. And above all, remember that your time is just as valuable as anyone else’s.
It’s okay to give yourself permission to take a step back, reassess, and prioritise what truly brings you joy and fulfillment.
